Measurement

This indicator is measured in Labour Market Indicators, the program of monthly supplements to the Labour Force Survey (LFS), and the Survey Series on People and their Communities (SSPC).

In the October 2023's Labour Market Indicators, survey respondents are asked:

Using a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 means "Very dissatisfied" and 10 means "Very satisfied", in general, how satisfied [are/is] [you/respondent name/this person] with [your/his/her/their] main job or business?

In the SSPC, survey respondents are asked:

How do you feel about your job right now?

  • Very satisfied
  • Satisfied
  • Neither satisfied nor dissatisfied
  • Dissatisfied
  • Very dissatisfied

This indicator is also measured in the Longitudinal International Study of Adults (LISA), the General Social Survey (GSS) - Canadians at Work and Home, selected iterations of the Canadian Social Survey (CSS), and on the Indigenous Peoples Survey (IPS). Exact questionnaire wording may vary slightly between sources.
